GVC.SiteMaker Test Drive

Welcome to GVC.SiteMaker's Test Drive

What do I do first if I want to test drive GVC.SiteMaker?

If you are interested in test driving GVC.SiteMaker, please contact Global Village Consulting, Inc. by clicking on the Trial Access Request link found in the left side menu or by clicking I want access and completing the displayed form. Obtaining trial access to GVC.SiteMaker enables you to determine for yourself just how easy and versatile GVC.SiteMaker can be in organizing, creating, and maintaining websites for your organization.

I have access to the test drive, what should I do now?

Once you have obtained trial access to test drive GVC.SiteMaker, it would be wise to review the features by clicking feature information. Or, if you're the type to jump right in, you can access the 4 main areas in the GVC.SiteMaker application: administration, configure a website, request a website, administer website styles, by clicking on any of these links on the left menu. You can also access each area by clicking on the links provided below. Note that to access some areas will require you to login before performing the selected function.

Administration Area

During your trial access you may be assigned as a Unit Administrator. This role will allow you to perform the majority of administrator functions. The only thing you will not be able to do is create new units and create/manage users. However, you will be able to manage existing units, to assign/create users to specific websites, and to create new websites. To access this area of the application, click on the Unit Administration link in the side menu or here: unit administration. You will be required to login.

Configure Websites Area

As a trial user, you will be able to perform all functions to configure and manage websites you have been assigned. To access this area of the application, click on the Configure a Site link in the side menu or here: configure websites. You will be required to login. As well, users will be able to request that new websites be created. If you are set up as a unit administrator you will receive notification to create a website and may perform the necessary functions to do so (see Requesting Sites).

Requesting Website Area

Once your organization has been set up within the GVC.SiteMaker demo area, users will be able to request websites. Notification will be sent to the person within your organization who has been assigned as Unit Administrator. The website can then be created. Requestors will be asked which unit they wish their website to be assigned, thus it would be useful to notify users within your organization who will be using the GVC.SiteMaker demo which units they should be using. To access this area of the application, click on the Request a Site link in the side menu or here: request a website. You will be required to login.

Style/Templates Area

During your trial access you may be assigned as a Style Administrator. This role will allow you to see the functions available to create/manage template styles. We have assigned you a few style templates so you can see how they are managed. We ask that you refrain from creating new template styles while using the GVC.SiteMaker demo site. To access this area of the application, click on the Style Administration link in the side menu or here: style administration. You will be required to login.

User Manual

The User Manual is available in the navigation bar for more information on performing specific functions. In order to view this document, you will need to have Adobe Reader installed on your computer.
